Project Story

This Blauvelt colonial had a primary bathroom that was functional but purely utilitarian — builder-grade fixtures, basic tile, a single vanity for two people, and a jacuzzi tub that no one ever used. The homeowners wanted a complete reset: calmer aesthetics, a real shower, a soaking tub they'd actually use, and enough storage for two.

We gutted the room entirely and redesigned the layout. The jacuzzi tub came out and was replaced by a freestanding soaking tub positioned in the corner under a new window we trimmed out to showcase it. The shower was expanded using space reclaimed from a small closet, giving us a generous shower footprint.

Carrara marble tile throughout — on the shower walls, the shower floor, and the entire bathroom floor — creates a calm, spa-like atmosphere. The same tile material in the shower and on the floor unifies the space without making it feel busy.

The double vanity is 72 inches with a charcoal finish and white quartz top, providing the storage and counter space for two people. We also built a custom linen closet into what had been a small alcove — zero footprint added, but now there's a full linen storage solution. Radiant floor heat was added before tile installation. Permits from Orangetown. Completed in 4 weeks.
