This Congers ranch had a functional but uninspiring kitchen: decent cabinets that were still in reasonable shape, but no island, poor lighting, and dated finishes that made the space feel smaller than it was. The homeowners specifically wanted a waterfall island — they had seen them in design magazines and wanted that dramatic look in their own home.
Rather than a full gut, we focused on the most impactful changes: new flat-panel cabinet door fronts and drawer fronts in white (keeping the existing cabinet boxes to reduce cost and timeline), a full countertop replacement in Calacatta Nuvo quartz, and a brand-new 7-foot island built from scratch.
The island is the showstopper: the Calacatta Nuvo quartz wraps around two sides of the island in a waterfall detail, and the slab is dramatic enough that we used it for the backsplash as well — creating a full seamless quartz wall behind the range. The integrated pull hardware keeps the look streamlined and modern.
New recessed LED lighting throughout replaced a single dated fixture, and 12×24 porcelain tile in a large-format greige tone updated the floor without a full tearout. This project required no permits since we didn't move any plumbing, walls, or electrical panels. Completed in 5 weeks.
