Kitchen remodel in Pearl River, NY — navy lower cabinets, white uppers, quartz countertops, open-concept conversion in a 1990 colonial. Completed in 6 weeks with full permits.
Pearl River is full of well-maintained colonials from the late 1980s and 1990s, and this kitchen was a classic example: a closed-off layout with a half-wall separating the kitchen from the family room, dated oak cabinets, and laminate countertops that had seen better days. The homeowners had two kids and wanted a kitchen that worked with family life — open, easy to clean, and stylish.
We removed the half-wall between the kitchen and family room, installing a new LVL beam to carry the load, and then completely rebuilt the kitchen within the expanded space. The new layout added a freestanding island with bar seating on one side and drawer storage on the other.
Cabinet selection was a two-tone design: navy blue lowers paired with bright white uppers and brass cup pulls — a combination that photographs beautifully and feels fresh without trying too hard. Countertops are white quartz with subtle movement and a full bullnose edge.
Subway tile in a vertical stack pattern with charcoal grout gives the backsplash some personality, while the Shaw LVL flooring in a warm greige tone works throughout the first floor for continuity.
Orangetown Building Department issued permits for the structural and plumbing work. Completed in 6 weeks.
