This West Nyack colonial had a large footprint but an underperforming kitchen — standard builder-grade cabinets, laminate countertops, and no butler's pantry despite having the space to add one. The homeowners entertained frequently and wanted a kitchen that could handle serious cooking and large gatherings equally well.
The project was a full gut renovation plus the conversion of an adjacent hallway closet into a full butler's pantry. This added meaningful storage and a secondary prep and coffee station without touching the primary kitchen footprint.
Cabinetry is fully custom frameless construction in painted white, floor-to-ceiling, with integrated panel-front refrigerator. The butler's pantry has matching full uppers and lowers with glass-front upper cabinets. An integrated wine column refrigerator sits at the end of the island run.
Countertops are Taj Mahal quartzite in a leathered finish — an extraordinary material that has the drama of marble but significantly better durability. The same slab was used for the backsplash behind the range, bookmatched for a dramatic focal point. Custom edge profiles at the range surround create an architectural moment.
A custom plaster range hood was built around a 48-inch pro range, and we added a pot filler above it. The floors are 5-inch white oak in a wire-brushed finish. Permits filed with Clarkstown Building Department. Timeline: 9 weeks.
