Project Story

The homeowners in this Nanuet split-level wanted a fresh, updated kitchen without a full gut renovation. The existing layout worked well — they just needed to replace the worn laminate cabinets, dated laminate countertops, and old tile backsplash, and update the lighting throughout.

We started by carefully removing the old cabinets and countertops, then installed a full set of warm-grey shaker cabinets with brushed brass hardware — a combination that brings warmth and a contemporary transitional feel. The upper cabinets now reach the ceiling with crown molding trim, making the kitchen feel taller and more substantial.

Countertops are Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold quartz with a simple eased edge — highly durable, easy to clean, and a beautiful match for the warm cabinet color. We installed a 3×9 subway tile backsplash in a herringbone pattern with charcoal grout, which adds a bit of contrast and visual interest.

Rather than replacing the hardwood floors — which were in good shape — we had them refinished to match the new cabinetry tone. We also updated all lighting: new recessed cans throughout, pendant lights over the peninsula, and under-cabinet LED strips.

Because we didn't move any walls, plumbing, or electrical panels, this project did not require permits. Timeline was 4 weeks from the first day of demo.
